Fished the boathole, sulphur, and KRS this weekend. Crystal clear water over grass with sandy potholes, spoil island points, 6', 5', 4' 3', 2' depths, trout green water, stained water. Could not catch a trout to save my life! Is it that bad since the freeze or am I just a bad fisherman?!?! Sanity check please.

little bit of both....the moon and tides are off right now...even the guides are having a hard time....try fishing at night if you can...

Fished Sunday/Monday along Laguna Shores. My fishing buddy was using croaker, and finally switched to live shrimp after I caught 2 keeper black drum and a keeper red. Then he went back to croaker. He did not catch anything. He did not show up Monday, so I took remaining shrimp and caught 3 more keeper black drum (2 on dead shrimp, one on live shrimp). Both days caught several rat reds and hardheads, and skipjack. Not a single trout.

I had thought about fishing along Laguna Shores and just finally gave up and went home instead. LOL. I probably should have. |

Were you on the bottom somehow or using a cork? |

Is the water too fresh for trout? If so, it'll probably be a while, since Nueces River and Aransas River have recently crested. Much more fresh water for the bays.
I'm going to SPI to fish Wed & Thurs, and I'm hoping they didn't get as much rain as we did in the Coastal Bend. They also don't have much in the way of river inflow, since the Rio Grande doesn't empty into the LLM and the Arroyo Colorado empties quite a bit North of Port Isabel. TexasJim

Water is plenty salty enough in the ULM. SPI shouldn't have any salinity issues. |

Dunno about the bays, but I've caught more 25+" trout this month in the surf than I have in my life. Live mullet and topwaters. Anywhere from Port A all the way down to Green Hill. They're out there. Can't keep em, but when you're pulling them out of the surf thinking you have a nice slot/oversize red at first, it's quite the experience...
