A guy fishing the San Juan River in Farmington New Mexico today caught this 35 and a half inch rainbow trout. I'm heading up there in a couple weeks to fish with a friend. Hope I get some half that size.

I was fishing up on that River today. Didn't catch anything close to that but had a blast. Here are some pictures.
Here's a 20-in rainbow I caught and the fly I caught it on.
What was really frustrating was having such difficulty getting fish to hit the flies but it looked down at your feet and they were to be a half dozen 25 plus inch trout bumping into my legs and feeding on insects that were stirred up by my feet.
This is Navajo lake that feeds the San Juan river. The crazy thing is that the temperature of the river only varies three to four degrees between summer and winter that's why the river is considered a world-class fly fishing river.

That trout in the first picture sure looks like a brown trout to me. |
