After the lightning quit I went out for a short wade around 3:30 between Dimit Pier and the highway. I got rained on but eventually it stopped. Started out with soft plastics and worked through my tackle along the shoreline. Lots of shrimp and mullet around but nothing, not even a bite with Poppin cork and gulp shrimp. On the way back switched to topwater. First cast had a blow up. came into a school of reds and was able to get a 26" to the net. Due to a rod malfunction I wasn't able to keep up with the school but I ended up catching and releasing two 22" trout from the same spot, and a third came off due to foul hookset. I don't think it was the bait that wasn't working earlier but timing. Didn't start getting bit until 5:45. With the moon I figured that's when they started to move in closer to the shallows for the night feed. Will try to post Pics, may need help.

I guess that worked. Here's the red. The trout were released. |

It's always equipment malfunction when we don't catch what we should have. At least that's always my excuse. Lol. Nice catch |
