Great day on the beach yesterday. I started around 10 and fished till dark. First stop was about the 22 and worked my way back north. Didn't get a lot of bites but got some fish. I caught 4 keeper drum 20 to 27 and several oversized. Caught 1 keeper red at 26. And 5 or 6 keeper whiting.
Plenty of dead fish for the first 5 miles and very few after that! Also saw a dead pelican type bird at about the 4 or 5.
Beautiful weather but foggy at times. Driving was great at low tide but at high tide might be a little dicey for some vehicles. Talked to some friendly folks and everybody seemed to be catching some. Only issue was one idiot in a little black suv who didn't understand common driving courtesy, I hope he's still stuck down there somewhere!
Also found some decent shells and a couple of starfish but still no beans! Whats up with that CS? The beans seemed to have dissapeared for me! |

Glad you had a decent day and took some fish home.
Don't feel bad about your lack of finding beans. I'm batting 0.000 also for at least the last 4 or 5 months. I figured with all the tropical systems that made it into Central America in 2020, there would be a 'plethora' by now, but nothing..... I have high hopes for this spring/summer, but until then, it's just black mangrove seeds. (But the freeze may have put a damper on them too, as all the plants have really black foliage now - but in the larger picture, that's not a bad thing). |

That makes me feel a little better. Hopefully they will show up soon..
I dont know why I like finding those little beans but I do. Kind of like finding shed horns at the deer lease. I spend hours wandering looking for.those too. |

I guess like most that enjoy beach combing I have found the beans before, so I can't help asking all of the knowledgeable folks here, what are they good for? Has anyone planted them and grown anything, or are they edible? |

Yes, Yes, and No.
Well, some are quite toxic, so I wouldn't recommend eating them. |
