Thanks so much for a simple, truthful and up to date explanation of the electricity distribution(grid) situation in our state. The governor is not being truthful, others have taken his false assertions and are trying to make political hay from a very serious and dangerous situation.
As usual folks with clear minds and apolitical thoughts will be the ones to work the state forward and out of this in the future.
One other thought.....if you had posted this truthful, factual and accurate explanation of our situation over on 2 Cool to be Fishing you would be banned from now into eternity.
Miss Rush??? Like a bad case of the clap. _________________ Mike |

@RXfire, Really dude? I'm new here, but that seems waaaayyy out of line to me...
We got power back last evening and reasonable water this morning over on Whiteley Cove up the crick from Zia...
Dead fish in the bottom of the canal, super clear as Zia said.
I'ma scoop em up here in a minute and see if it's just mullet or what..
Never so happy to be back home! _________________ Steve-O

| You guys are lucky on that side of canal. Us poor souls over in the low rent neighborhood still don't have anything. |

ERCOT has made a lot of announcements about power being back on Martha St., but Coach Zia, us, and some other neighbors do not have power, yet. Unfortunately you can not talk to a human being with ERCOT, so you just have to be without until they decide to tend to your needs. |

Typical post from a jerk proggie liberal. Still drinking the koolaide aren't you.
Pissing on Limbaugh because you think you can get away with it. Well you are gonna "hear that crap". Rest assured I am gonna dance in the streets when your mammie and daddy Piglosi and Chuckie poo croak.
I wouldn't ever believe a word printed in that fake liberal rag dailykos if it was printed in blood. Talk about koolaide for the drinkers.
Keep the BS coming. We have to make sure all the proggie liberals get enough koolaide. _________________ Now that food has replaced my sex life I can't even get into my own pants!!!!!!!!

The reason for the power problems is really very simple. Think about it. The Texas system wasn't winterized in anticipation of a 50 to 100 year polar vortex like the one that just occurred. All the little pieces everyone talks about always go back to the issue of the system not being winterized. Hell the busted pipes everyone suffered from relates back to their homes not being winterized for a 50 to 100 year polar vortex.
North of Texas all the way to the Canadian border did not suffer the electrical and other problems we did. Why, because their systems and homes are far more winterized.
Now lets ask ourselves a couple of questions.
1. Would you have paid the extra cost to have your home winterized for such an event. No, you would not have. The typical reaction would be, I don't need to pay a bunch of extra money for something that is never gonna happen. But now hindsight is 20-20.
2. Now apply the same logic to the Texas system. Did it make sense to winterize the system to deal with something that was a 50 to 100 year event, especially with everything supposedly getting warmer. No, it did not, so it was not winterized as it was built. The people that made these decisions made reasonable economic decisions under all the circumstances at the time. It would have cost billions to winterize the Texas system. Now everyone wants to second guess them cause hindsight is well, you know, hindsight is always 20-20.
I can just hear all the hypocrites bitching and moaning if they had decided to winterize the system: "Why do I have to pay these extra high utility bills just so they can spend all that money on something that is never going to happen". "We don't need that". "It's just a waste of money".
Human nature is a real bitch isn't it. _________________ Now that food has replaced my sex life I can't even get into my own pants!!!!!!!!

RXfire, we do not need propaganda from far left websites, most of which is based on half truths at best. Many people have suffered from this winter episode.
Also, please clean up the language. Intelligent people should be able to make their point without resorting to such words. |

Nah Yea Nah, gonna have to call shenanigans on that ^^^.
I for one, remember the back to back freezes of Christmas and then around Valentines (imagine that) in 89-90. Froze so hard, I walked my dog 50 yards out onto the Laguna.
Now that was an Ice Storm. And let's not ignore the 83 Freeze. Major, Major trout kill that year.
Luckily, (snicker, snicker, snort......), only thing I saw washing up at the beach were hardheards for as far as you wanted to drive. [Pro Tip - for the Lady with the lab dog today, best not to turn around and go right through the line of hardheads. Just say'in]. |

Do you realize you just made my point. Neither events you site caused the power disruptions, etc. etc. that occurred with this polar vortex. Neither were sufficient to cause us to feel we needed to winterize our power systems. Sure, lots of freezes in the last 20, 30, 40 years, but nothing with the intensity and magnitude of what took place this last week. I stand by my 50 or 100 year polar vortex comment.
