Caught a decent spec out of the surf, 23 inches, and had something large on - other than skip jack i think. I brought shrimp with me, that caught hardheads, i cast netted finger mullet, caught a large skip jack and used it for bait, along with another rig with fingermullet - which is what took the spec. Something strong enough to jerk my shoulder pretty good took the cut skip jack, but just as I settled in for a fun fight, the line got cut. There were lots of skip jack - and on the way in - i fished between 15 and 20 - i saw a school of something slamming the surface - birds working, but i was out of gas (me , not the truck) and i took some pictures of that - but missed the action - i figured it was skip jack anyway. The water was quite a bit clearer around the 10 - in the 6-7 , out at 17-or so - more like 4-5. Lot of work for one spec, well not compared to the prof kayaking 17 miles , but i'll have fish for lunch just the same.

I hit the surf sbh around sunrise this morning. Water was a lot rougher than I thought it was going to be. Didn't stay very long as I didn't feel like fighting the waves. Got two blue Fish on cut whiting

Laughing Nobody ever accused me of being normal.

Good report, and I'm glad to hear about the water clearing up! Maybe there will be time to salvage a decent season out of this year after all.
