For those (like me) who come down island from out of town and HATE crowds, I thought I'd post a little fishing spot availability recon report from my recent business trip (took some time and a six pack to drive around a bit and enjoy some salt air in the evenings). I had no problem hitting Mustang from the private access roads to the dunes (need permission from the landowners, obviously), but beach access via vehicle is a no-go. No problem getting the backroads near Shamrock (if you want to kayak) or between Port A and Aransas Pass. No problems really at all on the main bayside if you know where you're going via road or have a private slip for your ride. PINS or anything close to it is basically inaccessible, either side, without a boat that you can actually legally get in the water; that said, there are indeed ways to easily hit the beach without a car on the north side heading north before JFK.

However, bottom line is, if you want to fish, you can--you just have to know where to go, and there are indeed endless spots with NO ONE around. Blessings come in disguise. No mask required. Double entendre intended...

Well said. Some of the best times of my life were, when I was young and didn't have a boat, searching out new fishing spots. We are blessed on the Texas coast with having endless areas that can be explored and produce quality fish from the bank. I hope to get out the next couple of days and do just that.

This is a fishing site. Hopefully, we can get back to talking about something that we all love. Thanks for reminding us of that.
