Okay so I got myself a nice used boat after being off the water for the last 4 or so years and I'd like to pass through one of the numbered areas over to the other side of the islands lining packery channel. I've never put a boat through any of those paths but I see a lot of boats doing it with ease. Need to overcome my own paranoia but I'm not sure of the best path to access the area I have circled in black.
Some years ago I took a small jon boat through 3 but it was really high tide and it seems that things have changed out in Packery from the 4 or so years ago I was last out there.
Anything I should know about venturing into that area. Recommendations. We skunked out on our first 3 trips. Hoping for better tomorrow.

| When I go there I just float through. I know I have gone through spot 1, but I do not do it on plane. I use a skiff pole on my boats though and just pole through. |

I've floated through 2 and 3, haven't hit them on plane though, although I'm sure I could. Those cuts are pretty deep compared to the areas around them. _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

Thanks guys. We got in through 3 and came out 2. Caught one nice drum and hooked up some kind of small shark that bit hard and spooled my line before snapping it. No luck otherwise.
Its kind of hard to tell how far back I can drift in that area it definitely gets shallow as you get deeper in there. I saw a boat get stuck and throttle out. |
