Couldn't be more true a statement. I go to Port Aransas. Always very helpful and very knowledgeable when it comes to trailer paperwork, no lines of people to stand in.

I'm actually running into a similar problem. bought a boat and they have a title for the boat motor but not the trailer. They said it doesn't require one.
...but I'm pretty sure I'm going to get pulled over if there's no plate on it.
Sorry for the hijack |
You are required to have it registered (License plate). A title is not required. The seller should have given you a written bill of sale with the amount you paid for the trailer (not the entire boat) and the old registration I.E. License plate. This is all you need to transfer/renew the registration for the trailer.
I just did it with a utility trailer, had no issues. I did go to the place in Portland though. CC Courthouse make their own rules, and 10x more rude. | Thanks for the info. In my case there was no plate, no registration and the plaque stating the gross weight of the trailer is unreadable.
Bill of sale isn't an issue. I'll see if the bill of sale is enough for them to re-issue a plate. |

this is exactly our issue, no hijack at all....we did the inspection and all that, but the DMV down at the CC courthouse wants a court order to issue a new VIN....sounds like malarkey to me too...
ST, I looked online for the courthouse in Port A, but not finding an address...did they close it down out there? do you remember where it is?
we'll try Robstown tomorrow and let you know how it goes...thanks for the info everyone!

This is a tax extension office not a courthouse. Only one county court house
in each county.

Man, I wish I would have known about that when I was doing mine. That sounds like it was a breeze. Mine was a pain. _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |
