I've been watching the news about Coast Guard rescues and I realized these guys aren't even getting paid right now, but they are out there doing their job and helping others. I want to do something to help the rescuers. My idea was for those of us interested to drop off HEB gift cards, gas cards, or Visa gift cards so they can buy what they need until the checks start coming again. If you're in the Corpus area, Roy's and Fin Factory have volunteered to serve as drop-off spots, and the CG Senior Chief for NAS Corpus Christi has agreed to pick up donations and get them to those who have been hit hardest. If you are in another area, find a way to donate to your local Coasties. They could use a hand right now and they'll appreciate the support!

To all who help, thank you! The response so far has been great, I just hope we can raise enough to make things easier for those caught in the middle of a situation through no fault of their own.

Great Idea, the Orange Doelfin Copter cruised over me while fishing PINS. I love seeing those.

I love that place - its perfect for me, I cant walk far enough to - go to the mall, or go to Sam's or go to a gun show, but Roys , perfect. My wife and daughters, we will go hit one of the restaurants - near there, and i am pushing them to finish - quick - so I can go to Roy's. And then the eye-rolling starts, 'Dad ?? Not Roys again" . And if there is a toy for surf fishermen known to man that it is not in there, what is it.

I'm going to close the collection efforts Friday afternoon. The pay checks should be arriving Monday for Coast Guard members, so by the time Friday's donations get to the right hands, checks will be following very soon after. We have already raised over $3,000 for the local folks, and it has been enough to help them get through the lean time and keep food on the table. For all those who donated, thank you for helping!
