| Went out early today and donated blood, ran errands in town, and went and visit the great-grandsons. Got home and Mary wasn't back yet from her weekend with the girls up in Luckenbach Texas so I had some time to kill before she got home so I hit the water. Went to my 3 minute honey hole and didn't get a bite. Move to location just south of pita and the bite was strong. Got a lot of dink trout probably 25 in all and did get four Keepers that I released. Two of the keepers are only 15 to 16 in but the other two are big fat 18-19 in sows. All fish were caught in about three feet of water with either tequila sand eels or red and black paddle tails. My retrieve was very very slow and the bite was extremely soft. There was never really any thump and often I didn't even know I had a fish on until I started reeling it in fast to make another cast. Sorry I don't have any pictures. As I was getting in my boat and looked at my phone and I had 2% battery life. |

Ditto on the soft bite and them following it in.
Lots of fish skin-hooked in the roof of the mouth.
Lost a couple of real monsters because of it.
Got a few working the bait in short sweeps and letting it drift back down like a dying baitfish, but just crawling it slowly near the bottom seemed to be what they wanted. _________________ Take it outside! |
