Just a friendly reminder that The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will hold a hearing tonight 1/15 in Corpus Christi and a webinar to solicit comments on Draft Amendment 50 - State Management of Recreational Red Snapper. The Council is currently considering state management that would provide flexibility to the Gulf states to set the recreational red snapper fishing season and potentially other management measures.

Sorta.... No Official Action can be taken, due to the Fed Register SNAFU....
Your comments WILL be taken, but any action will be at the next Council Mtg. (With another Comment period leading up to it.....)
So Yeah, nah........... Not much happening at the Fed Level now. |

it was actually a really good meeting that was well attended for the weather...lots of private recreationals there in support of TPWD....there was only 1.5 bad apples in the crowd, but they were harmless enough...
it was good visiting with my friends Ava and Jessica from the GC, plus Lance was there from TPWD, and a few other TPWD characters who shall remain nameless...
as a bonus, Dr. Stunz was there to answer stats questions from both the GC and the crowd...
since there weren't any other statisticians that showed up....just sayin
there were many, many potential options to Amendment 50, and it was worth the price of showing up just to see the presentation....I learned exactly just how egocentric Florida really is with their attempt to grab TAC from the western gulf....that has GOT to stop....
while this does help, there's still a long uphill battle to get this EFP nailed down, cleaned up, and turned into something permanent....
