As one who doesn't fish the surf, i use a split ring to attach a barrel swivel directly to the spoon. If I were to fish the surf I would use a ss leader of some length with a barrel swivel on both ends and the one on the spoon end attached with a split ring. You can find small barrel swivels and split rings at Cabela's, if Roy's doesn't have them. |

I just use a stainless leader with a snap swivel on the end. This allows me to change spoons very fast if needed. AFW makes some good ones if you do not feel comfortable making your own.

| I have a question about the large heavier spoons like the Crocodiles in 2oz size to catch large redfish in the surf and from jetties. What type of retrieve have you found works best with these heavy spoons? Thanks. |

Best lure ever made...trust me...
There is no right or wrong when it come to retrieval.
Let the fish tell you and they will...Gold,Silver and sometimes Copper
Bays usually 1/4,Surf 1/2 on up..I prefer light tackle so usually
1/4.rigging them is important to.best I found is a split ring and barrel swivel
.teasers can make a difference to.my go to has always been gold with yellow teaser...weedless of Course...and sharpen the hook..

| I agree with shorty. The Krocs are the best spoons ever made. I still have a tackle box full of them from my steelhead and salmon fishing days. They cast a long ways and just plain work. |
