I own a small 1 br condo on the island, but Due to Mom and Dad being sick for years now, I save my annual leave and only go out for a week when the migration starts. I remember some other years, it started since late August.

This year, dad passed away in August. I Needed a little get away and went out camping the weekend after he passed; as my wife told me I needed to get away. She and my kids went with me and I took a cpl of poles and my cast net. Best I could do with it was catch a few pony and horse mullet. Have been keeping an eye on posts but nobody has said anything about finger mullet. Any updates would be appreciated. Thanks.

2 weekends ago I cast net a bunch of 4-7 inch mullet in the wade gut. Every once in a while there were schools of larger ones in the first and second guts. Also a whole bunch of Herring in the wade gut. I was down Pins.

Saturday, sept 8, around 20 miles down, we were able to catch all the mullet we wanted with the cast net. They were everywhere. Thats the good news - the bad news - they were everywhere. There was a full buffet without sharp objects stuck in them available to the fish.

Missed 3-4 probably good bites, though could have been skipjacks. We were out there 2.5 hours, she (my daughter) put some nice whiting on the sand - i was trying for 'ze beeg juans' - and like I said, missed some decent bites.

They are out there.

Once the water recedes in the bay lookout, the finger mullet will be there.

We don't have the mullet migration that they have in florida. A lot of our mullet can always be found in the surf and we have a lot that stay in the bay... maybe there is a little more moving down the beach this time of year but it's not the acres and acres that the florida guys experience. In my experience mullet numbers are decreasing year after year, sure there is still probably plenty.. I'm not sure the state measures mullet numbers, same with menhaden, they've always been too numerous to count. I don't have hard numbers but i'm usually not far off.

I just got back from a walk on Whitecap beach and the finger mullet were thick in the first gut. That

Finger mullet were thick SBH this afternoon. Followed some birds but only hooked up on a pretty lady before they moved out of reach. After that, nothing but small whiting and lots of hardheads on bottom with fishbites and live mullet. Truck down the beach from me landed a 5ish FT shark quick after kayaking a bait out. Beach is packed but lots of bumps and dips from all the rain. Water is clear and warm. Saw Prof. Salt getting back from a trip moving a nice fish from his kayak to his truck.

did a quick run after work this morning down PINS for a couple hours. fished from the pavement to a little past the 5mm. dead mullet left over from red tide but lots of mullet and rain minnows in the water. got a couple trout and lots of skipjack. should be a good fall run if the red death stays away. did see some hard heads swimming into the bait balls around my feet chasing the rain minnows which was fun to see
