Just thought I'd touch base with my CF,COM friends and share the reason for the lack of early morning coffee reports. I have been doing a lot of walking. I try to walk 5-6 miles a day or 20-25 miles a week if possible. I get up at 5am feed my animal family, walk the Chows, and then start my walk and that's squeezing in a cup of Joe. So I'm basically non stop until 0830 then I start my day. I have shed a lot of weight and would like to dump another 30lbs its very hard to do when your married to a good cook. December will be 1 year since my bypass surgery and I should be completely healed then, memory and all. Lots of vegetables and chicken and fish not one soda only tea and water, and some soybean chocolate milk. My cardiologist did back flips on my last visit and said I was the exception and produced the results they want to see. We all know to well it doesn't work out for everyone. I feel blessed everyday. So bare with me because I love doing the coffee reports I was up at 0430 this morning so I could happily work it in. I also did a drift by the duckblind this morning and chatted with DMAC it was a good drift. CHEERS, IMS.

So just how do they milk a soybean? Saw a commercial for Blue Diamond Almond Milk and wondered the same thing for almonds.

Learned about ten years ago that my body is not made for carrying extra weight. Lost 30 pounds and have kept it off with eating right and exercise. Has made a world of difference. But that doesn't mean you can't cheat a little now and then on the diet. Very Happy

Diet and exercise....keep it up! Firm believer in the body healing itself versus slamming pills.

Keep up the good work tin man. Maybe I ought to start dragging my lazy rear end out of bed and get my own coffee report. Lol

As an aside. For those of you looking to lose weight, don't be intimidated by the amount of time or number of miles that Stan puts in-which is great. If you get the eating part right, you can get it it done with much less.

I do understand the motivation with getting in all of those miles though-If you start our day off right with a hearty walk it motivates you not to screw it up with a bad diet. Yin and yang. Chicken and egg. Bait and tackle, whatever, you get the idea.

I have been losing some on a high protein/low carb focus...but there is really something to be said about time of day that you're eating too. What Stan is doing is awesome. Unfortunately my work schedule is anti-regular eating schedule. If you can manage not to eat any meals past 7 or 8 pm, you WILL see results regardless of other efforts. When you work 3p-11p or later though, sometimes breakfast isn't until 12 or 1. That has been my biggest roadblock. But WTG IMS! You're one to be envied.

Keep these suggestions coming - I'm down 33 lbs (depending on the time of day I weigh myself) from when I got out of the d wheelchair, and I have probably 60 lbs to go. That not eating past 7 or so is big - and I forget that some late nights when I am working - and get the munchies. Not being able to run or walk much really knocks down the weight loss ability - but I do have an elliptical at home and when I am there I got to stay focused on doing that nasty thing at least once a day. The comment from my doc ,"Yea, Donnie, by the way, you really dont see many older folks who are over weight. " Because over weight people dont get older. And I have fish to catch and grandkids to spoil - and I am not missing either one of those.

I don't suggest anyone to get out and do 5 miles its a grueling walk but enjoyable for me if you do 1 mile I salute you. Remember those 10 mile hikes in the military they took along time because we stopped so much. I walk because after my heart surgery my legs were real weak for along time. As far as diet you'll be surprised just how little we need to eat. Normally after my walk its a salad or a sliced avocado with a sliced tomato and then nothing until dinner maybe an apple or some raisins right now my snack is some black cherries I love those things, melon, chicken, fish, eggs, Saturday morning gotta have some bacon I'm an American gonna eat some bacon gonna walk it off too. No sodas, no beer, I have had 4 margaritas and 1 shot of tequila maybe 5 steaks since that day. I also mow yards I love to mow and weed eat I mow the little ol ladies down the street she pays me 2 dollars I just get a kick out of that. One time she gave me 5. I go from daylight til dark now non stop, the heat does not bother me like it did, my hair has gotten thicker, my joints don't hurt anymore except for my neck but there's 10 screws in it and my spinal cord is pinched which causes great pain, but I refuse to take anything narcotic...800mlg ibuprofen. its hard to shed weight harder if your older I guess. i'm down from a 42 to a tight 36 when that fits good ill be a happy camper 38 is loose now.

That's the same basic point my doc gave me, Donnie. And I'm in my early thirties. Still have so much time to turn it around! 4 medications, 2 of which are for HBP - he scared me, I guess that's their job. Trying so hard now, whereas in the past I didn't give a poo poo. My sister has done so damn well on Keto, and my ex had surgery - both seeing great results. IMS is an inspiration, but so are many of you.

Size 36 - wow, if I lose the weight I am working on, .... when I lose the weight, I will be in that size category too. Learning how to walk properly , consistently , would be one heck of a blessing, but the bad leg doesnt play well with the rest of the body.

Good for you Stan! Keep up the good work!

When I was much younger I needed a subject to give a speech about in speech class, and found an article in "Reader's Digest" which caught my eye. It basically said your blood circulatory system was your second heart, and when your heart beats it sends you blood out through your system and gravity substantially pulls your blood down into your lower cavity and less used areas of your body. When you walk your calf, thigh, and stomach muscles move the blood back up to the heart, and the process starts all over. If you don't walk, run, or exercise your circulatory system is less efficient, thus the storage of fat in areas of the body. I've simplified the explanation quite a bit, but hopefully you get the ideal. I'm a true believer in walking, because for many years I would run approximately 5 miles a day after work, and until I injured my ankle and had to walk instead, my legs, abdomen, and buttocks were never in as good of condition. Just my $.02

Perfect analogy 👍. My knees say no to running and my wife has to grab me by the ear and say your 62. Im like whoa girl Im just 61 dont turn 62 til October. My legs were good before my surgery after that I had to grab on to something to pull myself up. The leg they took the vein out of is still numb and will be that way I guess forever. They are good now. Your a good man Bayfly.

You got my respect Tinguy. Buy, I don't remember any 10 mile hikes in the Navy I was in. If the Navy had 10 mile hikes I would have joined the Air Farce.
