Good afternoon,
Quick question, which would you prefer for a 8 or 12 hrs trip? Why? I have a small group of coworkers (10) that want to go on June 30th. Thank you. |

Well...... Deep Sea Headquarters is a sponsor so its a pretty obvious answer to me!
I have been on some great trips with them! Short 8 - 12's, a fantastic 24 shrimp boat trip, and multi day tuna trips and all have been good. I would definately go with a 12 hour trip if possible. |

My top ten tips:
1. don't party too hardy the night before
2. take the longest trip you can
3. board early and claim your spot - back of the boat is preferred by many
4. sun screen, hat, shoes that cover your toes, sunglasses, pair of fishing pliers, hand towel
5. get your game on to kill some fish
6. test your drag before dropping a bait (1/3 of the line test in general)
7. don't tangle your line with others or else
8. puke over the rail - not on it or anywhere inside of it (see tip #1)
9. tip the crew
10. kiss the ground when you are back on dry land |

I agree with all of them. I been in several 24 - 36 hrs. In fact, this is my first 12 hrs or less. I had the pleasure of having Capt. James Wheeler for a couple of trips with DSH. |

One thing to keep in mind-- if you're prone to sea sickness (or are worried about it-- it can be real very quick and ruin a trip), start on the dramamine the day BEFORE you leave....If you wait to take it once you start feeling sick, you're hours too late...

Take the Gulf Eagle out of Deep Sea Headquarters
The captain knows how to find the fish. He used to be a Marlin Guide out of Hawaii until he moved back to Port A. He's a good man.
Ditto on the tip your deckhands. They do a lot of work for little pay and make their living off of your tips.

Being a former deckhand on one of the docks mentioned above, I can ditto that message ^^^. It was a meager existence, but it was fun... TIP WELL, but only for good service. Or at least that's what I remember from the times I rolled out from Shorty's to the Boat at 5:30 am..... |
