Mary and I had plans again this morning to head over to Santa Fe to hike the Diablo Trail. We read that it was 4.7 miles round trip from the trailhead down to the Rio Grande back. However when we got there and read the map it was 4.7 miles and one way. We decided just to go part of the way and then take the truck around to drive to the river. We did wind up hiking 6 miles.

This is the start of the trailhead. It follows this Arroyo between these awesome rock formations and finishes off in Rio Grande.

That ice at Mary's feet in this picture is actually a natural spring that was coming up out of the rocks at the bottom of the Arroyo.

What's interesting about this picture is that if you enlarge the picture and zoom into the middle you will see a person climbing the rock. It's a female and she was assisted by another female that was down at the bottom holding on to the Rope. Eventually this woman scaled all the way to the top. Too scary for my blood.

We eventually got back to the truck and drove to the Rio Grande. This is where the Arroyo eventually meets up with the Rio Grande.

Being that we were there at the river I took my fishing rod and threw some lures for about 10-15 minutes with nothing being caught. It wasn't an ideal location in the river to be fishing. Wind started kicking up and blowing up the river and temperatures were still in the lower 30s. Decided to head back and do various other things around Santa Fe.

This picture was from my trip on Tuesday. Forgot to add it but I thought Mary got an awesome shot catching my fly line unfurling in the air.

Dang, sure looks like yall are having a blast on your vacation. Keep the cool pics coming. Had a friend saw a mountain lion yesterday on a ranch near San Angelo.

Do you look for tracks when you and the wife are hiking ?
