Took my friend Matt Dillon down PINS, hoping he could connect with the pomps, but he just couldn't reach the far bar. Fishing in the second gut produced a single gulf whiting and a load of hardheads, although he did get a nice bluefish while reeling in one of the latter.

Water was very clear at first, with a scattering of sargassum, but the weed was no problem. Did not see any finger mullet, but on the way back the brown pelicans were targeting something in the first and second guts. We also saw fish jumping beyond the far bar, but couldn't identify what they were at that distance.

Driving was fair in soft spots around driftwood, and good elsewhere. We fished 4 locations on points and pinches from the mid-30s to about the MP 40, then went beach combing. Wind was getting up to about 10-15 mph from the east on the way back, whitecaps were forming, and the water was getting a little sandy on the bars.

One bit of good news. Although someone shot an adult coyote at the 6 recently, there is still a young coyote coming to be fed fish scraps and photographed there. We hope the rangers in the half-dozen park vehicles we saw today catch the shooter and protect the survivor.

SwellInfo had predicted very low wave heights would return on Saturday and Sunday, but as of 0727 this morning (11-30) erased that prediction except for a short period Sunday.

You're welcome, but you'll note being on the sand and fishing aren't the same thing. Waiting to get insurance approval for a MRI so I can get this splint off my casting and reeling thumb, wrist and forearm. Having a breakdown in my landline telephone meant replacing the system this morning, and now waiting 10 hours for the batteries in the handsets to fully charge. Meanwhile, I won't know if the insurance company has called.
