I like both but Packery is easier to access for me.

Thank Tyler!!! I have been in the PA jetties several times. I am taking one of my best friends fishing this weekend. He has never fished saltwater before, we are driving from Mexico. Any recommendations? bait, rig, etc.?

I would recommend that you fish the jetty at La Pesca!

in port A, try speck rigs tipped with shrimp or cut bait for sand trout, and jigs on the bottom for flounder...you'll stumble into a bull red one way or the other...

Packery is good just because it's a lot closer from this end of the bay. Something about it though, I just have never been as fortunate fishing those rocks as I have in Port A. I am also not too fond of the walking rails. (I feel like they're too close together; too hard for a horizontally challenged person to fit through, or to take all your gear through. It's almost as if they're trying to deter us from fishing the rocks.)

So therefore, I vote Port A.

Grew up diving/snorkeling the Port A jetties, a soft spot in my heart. Packery has it's spots, but fills in too quickly and conditions get bad faster than Port A. (Won't help you but October/November on the 2nd set of rocks down has held EPIC flounder for spearing, which can't be replicated at Packery - Sheepsheads/Spadefish are easier at Packery - S jetty end 45 degree angle south, 30 yards out!!!!!! DUDE!) Shocked

La Pesca - Becky might have let the cat out of the bag!!! I love them jetties (and still will not admit to getting a TAMU-CC 4WD Van completely airborne on a trip down to there.... Embarassed Embarassed )

man its like flipping a coin, I dont know where to go. I am driving 400 mi. in one day, my time is limited. I was checking nautical charts, and I see that the packery is not that deep, parts of port a jetty are up to 30 feet.

How's this for the North Port A Jetty.

Arthur Toscano and friends with yesterday's catch on soft plastics, finger mullet, and live shrimp

The NORTH jetty? How'd they get over there? Jetty Boat isn't back yet, is it?

If you park at Port A make sure the tide won't come up and swamp your vehicle. Both jetties are really good right now

I know this isn't one of the choices but I prefer fish pass Jetties to both of them. More intimate, less crowded, closer to the water, no rails and if you want you can also set up and fish the surf . That's just my opinion

I like the Fish Pass jetties too; they're like a piece of history that time forgot . It just seems like there's limited parking area especially at high tide. Never seen it from the south/State Park side.
