How accessible are the south jetties at P.A.? I havent been to port a in about 7 months, i am planing a 1 day trip all the way from eagle pass tx this saturday with a couple of friends (first timers at the jetties). What other options do I have? Please note that I dont have a 4WD.

You can park behind the dune off of Cotter and access the jetty there, it's the easiest if you have a cart. Tight Lines

If you haven't been in 7 months, prepare yourself for a whole new experience. The Hurricane made for some new .... configurations! Cool

dunphey is spot on. No 4WD needed, just a long hike to get there (the cart suggestion is very good, that and maybe a sherpa....).

Central Scrutinizer is correct if you haven't been in awhile it has changed.

Thank you guys. So you can not park directly on the jetty at this time? And between port a jetties and packery channel, which one is producing better fishing? Thank you again.

Take a closer look at that image above (and that is what it looks like at LOW tide!). If you park directly by the south jetty (as in where we ALL used to park), your vehicle will be in about 3-4 feet of water. I'm calling it "Harvey Slough". Rolling Eyes Laughing

Park and walk, or wade across (as I saw some people doing last time). It's not deep, but deep enough that a lot of bait fish like to run through there so you'll have to contend with cast net aficionados.
