Had what I figured would be a slow afternoon - turn out pretty fun. Caught my first over slot red, 31 incher, another blacktip, blue fish, nice spanish mackeral and a bucket of whiting.

Tried whiting for cut bait - i was told some other guys were doing great for bulls on cut whiting, specifically the head. I tried that - until i cast netted some mullet , and caught a large skip jack , Z-man's red fish candy, which his advice on that has been dead on this last week.

Caught the black tip on the skip jack cut, and then was resting up from the fight, and my smaller penn the 5500, starts jumping around - and then 31 inch red was on, a fun fight. Was catching whiting for cut bait, but they started getting bigger, so I kept about 10 of those, my wife's favorite fish and I of couse always want to accomodate her wishes.

Fun day out there.

It's been way too long since I've been out there. Hope to go soon. Thanks for the report!

After reading other people's reports on facebook, etc. , I was nearly skunked compared to others taking limits and catching lots of bull reds. Was a good afternoon for me - still have a heck of a lot to learn.

The last ones - last week - was taken by my wayward son <fishnAggie> as he is known on this board, wasnt a selfie. I bought one of these selfie sticks but I managed to break it before I realized I want pictures of fish and the beauty out there, not scary me.

Yesterday was an exception - catching my first over limit red - since those limits were put in place. I apologize for any small pets or children I may have scared with that picture.

nice catch, Donnie.

I have only caught one bull red this year. I'm going out tomorrow and fish hard for most of the day at Packery jetty hoping for the best. The snook have been biting, so I want to try to catch either or both.
