|
|
I recently sold my Dargel for something I could run offshore (conditions permitting) in and still fish fairly shallow. All of my past boats had cavitation plates but they were all tunnel hulls. I have a 22 Panga Marquesas on the way. It has trim tabs and a jack plate. My question is would a cavitation plate help it hop up? I asked the builder, and it did not seem like they were terribly familiar with them or how they might work on this boat. I remember someone on this forum had a Marquesas but that was some time ago. Does anybody have an idea how it might work or experience with them on a non-tunnel hull?
Thanks,
Robby |

| Congrats on the new boat....pangas are awesome. You'll be surprised how shallow you can get up on due to the set back on the transom. This set back lets you mount the motor higher than normal hulls. A cavitation plate like a shallow blaster are made for tunnel hulls. A whale tail may be ok but you probably dont need anything. |

I agree; totally different hulls...
as joe mentioned, a whale tail might help keep the bow down a bit, but you'll have the jack plate and tilt, which will do the same thing....
run it and see what it does before adding anything...and congrats!

| I appreciate the input. That was what I was thinking after doing some research, but always appreciate the good input I get from CF. |

Between motor trim and trim tabs there's no need. Plus, few people actually look down at the lower unit when running, but if they did, more than a few would be surprised to see that the foils aren't even emmersed!!!!😔 _________________ Dave

| The whale tail or cav plate would help pop you up on plane a little faster is probably the main thing you would get.. whether it's equal to trim tabs ... mehhhh. There are times when I use both to get up as fast as possible and I'm running a whaler with no tunnel. Probably run it for a while with out and if you find you need any more help getting on plane that might be the time you add it ... |
