We caught a bunch at the Fina docks last week using live shrimp, but they were pretty small.

I fished Packery this past Monday, throwing topwaters and soft plastics, with no luck. Wind was blowing hard along with the sand, which got into one of my baitcasters messing it up. The only one catching anything was a man on the north jetty fishing for mangrove snapper. He was simply using pieces of peeled fresh dead shrimp under a cork with a fairly long leader. He would cast out just a bit beyond the rocks, and wait for a bite. He caught lots of pinfish and piggies, but he would catch a mangrove snapper every few casts it seemed. He had a nice mess of them.

Larger Mangroves will really nail small, live pinfish, in the 2-3" class. They become darn smart and line/tackle shy with age, so using a fluoro leader of the lightest weight you dare and small, super shark hooks like Owner's SSW will get you more fish, with no interference from bait nabbing pinfish.

That's exactly what we used 2-3 inch perch. The snook were after those as well
