http://www.dickssportinggoods.com Will open up a store near 1604 and HWY 151 at the Alamo Ranch Marketplace.

Never been to the store but it sure does look like a cool place, and the competition would be great for the consumer. Doesn't hurt that it (if true) will only be minutes away from the house.

Guess the Sports Stores are jealous of McDonalds and Taco Bells and Wendys, and are trying to catch up. Laughing

Dicks is a big chain up north......their selection of tennis rackets is usually better than their fishing gear and tackle selection.......don't hold your breath about that place........sure, you can get some good deals on stuff, but only every once in a while.......

and they sure are proud of their stuff, if you know what I mean Shocked

Freshwater anglers might benefit more than the salts....probably.

Yeah. I want to see them sell some of the Ice Fishing gear.

Checked Richard's online shopping. They only carry two brands of rods. Sounds like a big brand name only kind of place.

I can't wait for Gander Mtn. to buid in the CC area. This store is the only one that comes close to Academy IMHO.

We just got a GM in College Station. They built right next door to the Academy up here. The Gander Mountain is a neat store but seems to me to be geared more to hunting than to fishing. Still a great store though.

Wasn't there a Dicks Sporting Goods across from North Star Mall a few years ago? I think it later became The Sports Authority?

It would be a welcome site on this side of town. Great competition!

i'am happy with our new heb in the bluff , cant wait until it opens. Now we need a 24hr wafflehouse. Its looking like there is going to be plenty of tackle shops, atleast one on every street corner, so i have no worries there mates. life is good.

Richard's, as stated above isn't really like a bass pro shops, gander mountain, or academy. It's more of a golf and team sport store.

I think that was calle Oshman's. Same target markets; team sports, golf, running, biking...

When Oshman's was in North Star they had an indoor ski slope (sort of a giant convey belt).

I would expect another announcement of a Dicks in CC pretty soon. Maybe in the old Graham's location??????? Don't ask me how I know. Wink

Whatever the case may be their lineup isn't too shabby.
Besides it's just one more excuse to "run some errands"..
