| Since I have not read anything on this site about the referenced company I'm encouraged to inform you about their product, a less restrictive replacement or alternative to the engine cut-off lanyard. I have worn my lanyard for many years, especially when I am underway for any distance. However, I have never liked it, and it always seems to get in the way. Fell Marine's product allows you to install and hardwire a fixed unit "MOB" on your boat, then you wear a wrist band "FOB". If you fall off the boat and the FOB becomes submerged by 4" or is removed from the Mob by approximately 30 feet it cuts the engine off like the lanyard does. After just a few seconds someone remaining on the boat can restart the engine to rescue the original driver. If you are alone, and hopefully have a pdf on, then you won't be run over while you are trying to get back on the boat. Hopefully the tide and wind are working in your favor! I encourage you to go to fellmarine.com and review the product. I just installed one on my rig and it's a simple installation by drilling a 2 1/8" hole for the MOB and the connection of four wires, two to the positive and negative banks, and two to the current cutoff switch for your motor. My cost was less than $100.00. A cheap way to get rid of a pain in the arsh for ever! |

Will have to check into it. Appreciate the information. _________________ "I do hunt and I do fish and I do not apologize to anyone that I hunt and fish." - Norman Schwarzkopf |

| Thanks for the posting. Very intriguing. On their website it is the MOB + FOB for $199. Where did you find it for cheaper than that? |

| We had this system on the work boats. We got rid of it due to issues, not the least was the fact you lose the fobs. |

You got rid of the system because you could not keep up with the fobs? Why not, they fit in a wristband or on a lanyard? In my case I am the only user, so I should not have that problem. Did you actually experience any problem with the product, and have you addressed the problem with Fell? Please enumerate the problems you had with the product, because the product appears very well built and thought out. Thank you in advance. |

I could be wrong, but I am not near my invoice and have nothing on my computer, so my response will have to wait a few days. |

I wanted to rekindle this thread because of my post in regards to Kevin Farrell having lost his life while fishing alone, but this is not to say he fell off the boat while it was running. I still have not learned what caused his death, but some have suggested heart failure.
BTW, my cost was less than the $199 quoted, because of a discount being offered when the product first became available. |

I've used http://www.autotether.com/ for a number of years. Works in the same way. _________________ Mike |
