| The two Foodsaver units I have are hit and miss. I'm looking for a unit that won't break the bank but is better than a consumer type. Anyone run one they are happy with? |

| I have a Game Saver from Academy. Its like $200 new. I have sealed 8 hogs and at least 10 deer with it since I bought it 2 years ago and not to mention all the fish. It has held up great. The new ones are the same price but have more advanced features, they don't get overheated as quick when sealing and will last a long time so you're not stuck waiting on it to cool down. I have 2, I keep one here in TX and another back home in NC for when I go back to hunt |

| ditto on the game-saver sealer. I've had mine a long time and it still works well. I find for a better seal it's better to dry every trying well first. Machine doesn't have to work as hard and you get a better seal. |

After burning up 3,food savers, I broke down and bought a Weston.
I honestly do not think it pulls as much vacuum as the food saver, but it always gives a seal, and it's like 1/4" or wider seal. Not that little thread of a seal on some other brands. |

My foodsaver has been good though the bags are expensive. The only time I have trouble is when I try to go too fast. If I wait a minute or so between jobs it seems to always work like it is supposed to. I also wipe the inside of the bag clean of moisture or meat to make sure I get a good seal. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

I bought a Weston pro 2300 last year and have been loving it. The wider the bags are to what you are sealing the better it seals away from the vaccum ports. I do think this is true on most any model though. They are rated for continuous use. Parts are easy to find. operation is as easy as it can be. Clean up is also very easy due to its design. . Takes about 5sec of vac and 3-5 sec of seal. 1/4" heat strip and if you leave enough at the tip. You can double seal. Just in case you did not clean the inside of the bag well and it leaves a spots where it did not weld together.
I bought mine from here. http://www.meatprocessingproducts.com/65-0201.html They had a good price. shipping is decent too. If memory serves they keep the strips and bags in stock too.
Weston bags are not the best I have used but, they will work. _________________ If you do not seek a solution you are in the wrong situation. |

| Thanks for all the suggestions. A note on the bags. We just bought some of Ziplock vac/seal bags and they performed equally to the foodsaver ones at a fraction of the price for those that are interested. |
