So far, and it is still early, our shrimpboat season seams to be shaping up great!. We are going to run 2 24 hour trips in Sept. leaving on the 10th and 17th at 7PM. The primary goal of these trips is to get the timing right to target tuna on shrimpboats (my favorite style of fishing)! Also included we will be night fishing for the 3-4# Bliners we can target at night, grouper, and kingfish... But the primary reason for these trips is to be on the shrimpers as close to first light as possible. These trips will be limited load, and I expect them to fill with experienced anglers. 375$ per person, bring your own food and drink. Call Deep Sea Headquarters at 361-749-5597 to book!

Just an update...

We have cancelled the Sept 10 trip due to lack of interest, but the Sept 17th trip almost has the minimum to go. Also we have added the same trip departing on October 8.

The tuna have stayed consistent behind the shrimpers in the blue water and we have been putting up good numbers every time we can get down there. Book soon, if you want to try one of these trips.

What's the price for one of these trips?

Our 24 hour trips are $370 ($390 on credit card)per person with an extremely limited load of between 10 and 18people. You are allowed to bring your own food and drink on any 24 hour and up trip.

A decent lightweight 50 lb setup will take care of all of your fishing needs on this trip. We will be b liner fishing in over 200 ft of water, light combo filled with braid will be perfect, then in the morning the same rod can turn into a blackfin basher in a heartbeat... just add some topshot! But a regular old boat 4/0 filled with 50 isn't over or underkill as well

So an Ambassador 6500 with 50lb braid will work fine?

Yes, you should be able to do everything you want to with that setup.

Hey Cap do you have enough for this trip to sail yet? I'm seriously considering trying to make it.

Right now we are sitting at the bare min to go if no one backs out. Still have 8 spots open so come on down! Gonna be a fun trip and looking like flat calm seas... If you haven't booked yet, call 361-749-5597 soon to get on!

Thanks for answering! I have a couple more questions. What's the minimum and max on this trip?

What's your expected run time to that spot? I haven't done a 24 with y'all so just trying to figure what amount of fishing time/riding time to expect? I know there are a lot of variables with that but what's an educated guess?

Also it's been quite a few years since I've been on the pelican and I don't remember the setup. Are there benches or a place to catch a nap on the way in or out?

Trying to talk some of my buddy's to go as well but no luck so far. May just have to go solo Laughing

Sounds like fun. I would love to make a trip like that but can't with my neck. I would be toast after catching a couple big ones. Hope you guys load up.

My neck would be fine, it's my supple bum that I'm worried about Smile especially if the seas are sporty!
