Got out there around 6:45 water looked stained so stopped & casted up some mullet with a few perch mixed in.
Unloaded the Yaks & was on the water by 7:15. Was telling rabbit water looked so off colored & would be a better day for bait. he just looked at me funny with a strange poker face.

beautiful morning (FINALLY NO RAIN) right away my rod bends. Felt strong & only to see a huge hardhead on!
Drifted over towards Freaks hole & rod bends again, I give it a nice yank & felt a strong fight then my line goes slack. I think wow its swiming towards me & reeled faster only to find by line broke off! (pissed)
So I was on my way to a spoil Island to get my tackle box out (way down in hatch up front) to re-rig.

Stopped next to where Rabbit was on the way & he said "hey you got your camera" I said ya what for? Said just got a 26in Speck my personal best! He pulled up a huge trout on the stringer & I was shocked!
After re-rigging I never got a bite the rest of the morning. Switched to plastics even on my other rod. Went all thru the area & even tried the channel....NADA
Was slow overall in there today, saw flats boats with guys on console tower running all around looking for reds & none never stopped.

Before I went home drove over to the North P Jetties & casted plastics & caught a small trout. Water looked good on the surf side there. Nobody else was catching there either so called it a day.

Congrats Rabbit, nice Speck.

Another angle.

This is the final resting place of a 26 inch spec that I caught this morning. The spec was grilled (coated with olive oil and sprinckled with webers zesty lemon) The yellow squash and zucini was sliced in half and the cut cross ways in both directions the cut sides were rubbed with butter and sprinkled with salt and pepper. The Dark item in the middle is a portobello mushroom brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with salt and pepper on both sides (thanks for the info tyler). The fish turned out utterly fantastic. Thats the first time I have grilled fish like that but it wont be the last.
