Am hoping to get advice on fishing spots. My husband is disabled (blind/has had a stroke) and looking for a hobby. When he walks I steady/guide him. What we need is on the shore fishing spots that are a short distance from where I can park, easy walking.....a good place to set up a lawn chair. It is so nice to see him excited about something again. Just want to feel like I'm bringing him to a safe/fun fishing spot. We live in Corpus Christi.

Thanks in advance for anyone with advice. Have a great day. Very Happy

Welcome! The area along the JFK causeway is a good place to start. You can park right at the water and plenty of room to set up a few rods and a lawn chair. Good luck!

Lots of piers along the causeway and some areas downtown you can go too!

Welcome!

Topdog15, Do you need a beach parking sticker for the JFK causeway?

Tyler, Thanks for the ideas. He's not too into the idea of the piers, kind of figuring one wrong step and he's going for an unwanted swim. Shocked

Thanks to you both for the ideas and the welcome. Very Happy

Another place could be along the packery channel. You can park your vehicle right there and fish from the shore anywhere along the channel including by the boat launch ramp. Next to the bridge on the packery channel is a good spot but it can get pretty crowded

Might also look at fishing those piers that are lighted at night. Week nights usually have less traffic and the lights concentrate the trout. The challenge would be if there gets to be too many people and casting / crossing lines would not be fun. So for that one pick and choose which nights.

Another way to get around that would be to get a generator and lights that could be set up and shined across packers channel. Granted this would be more work for you, or have a friend tag along. There would be more than enough room for another 2 people.

Public piers are always a great place to start. Even if I can't find one with lights. I have a large portable underwater green LED light I can take with me. You'll find that the earlier that you get to the pier> The more spots you all can set up by a light. These spots are taken up pretty quick around sunset by other anglers doing the same. Im sure you will find more than a few good hearted folks that will be able to help if you need it.
