He was micro managed by the city council. They should be involved in other things. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

pretty sure it was ron olson that blamed water wells in the bluff for e-coli getting into the public water system. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened since every one I've seen out here is not linked into city water, but used as an independent water source. The real issue was with the chlorination injection. just like it is again this time.
Ultimately, the city manager reports to council. I'm not sure what they were micro managing him on. I would say he's rather lucky they took him back after he was looking for jobs in other parts of the country. |

Back in 1970 I hired on with Celanese and was started out as a boiler firemans helper. That job included running samples of boiler feed water. That water was pumped from the same source that Corpus pumped from and we sampled the water every 4 hours and made treatment changes accordingly. I can assure you that we could detect water changes from rain water run-off immediately. Seems to me they need some attention on sampling and treating ASAP. _________________ Off Shore Port Mansfield |

City managers are either starting a new job or looking for a new one. It is a part of the gig.
The city manager job for Corpus has the same problem problem we have finding a decent candidate for 'el Presidente. Who in their right mind would want the job? Even if you knew all the solutions to the cities problems 1/2 the council would be against you because the other 1/2 agreed with you.

This, from the story in 2007, could be recycled and ran in tomorrows' paper:
"Of course, all of this could happen again. It will rain in Texas again. And the chlorine now added as a stronger disinfectant is only a temporary solution. The city will revert to its weaker disinfectant, chloramine, the chlorine/ammonia blend, to avoid the buildup of chlorine byproducts".
Just like Yogi said, deja-vu all over again....... |

Ron Olson been an honest, smart, and dedicated servant of the city. I am glad to call him a friend. I hate to see him resign. Our loss, for sure. _________________ Fish today. Procrastinate tomorrow. |
