prayers to his friends and family. heard them looking for him saturday morning on the vhf, the water was pretty intense already.we all become comfortable when out and about but in reality we tempt fate every time we put ourselves into what mother nature can hand out.

It is the body of the boy that went missing on 4/1. His name is Carlos Perez and he was a freshman at Lake Ridge High School in Mansfield (DFW area).
My son knew him well, they were teammates on the JV soccer team. He was a really nice kid, it is a shame to lose someone so young.

This one stung particularly bad.

Friday late afternoon, I took the dogs out to Newport Pass and the surf was ANGRY and washing up to the dunes. I had to park at the access road just to get out. A van from out-of-town pulls up and a load of high schoolers pile out with boogie boards in hand! Shocked I mentioned to the adult that they ought not to be out in the surf, as it was nasty rough. I leave them to their outing, and hear later that a different group (around Bob Hall) had a kid come up missing in the surf.

After they suspended the search, Sunday afternoon I drove the length of beach from Bob Hall to the north sticks, and there were loads of fishermen the whole way, so I figured the body would likely turn up.

Now the weird part. Sunday night I have a dream that tells me to go between Mile Marker 19 and 22 on PINS. I head out early yesterday, binoculars in hand, and slowly make my way down the beach. After not finding anything, I head back and at around MM 13, I see the Constable, Park Ranger, and channel 3 and 6 vans set up. I had driven by there not an hour before. Crying or Very sad

I'm just glad the family will have some closure. now that he has been located.

What is also weird is that I was just down at PINS 3 weeks ago and camped in that same area and my son has camped with me in that same area several times.

I am glad they found the body. They held a memorial service last night and a lot of his classmates attended. They have created a small memorial in front of the school as well.
