Kayaked over to the KRS from Bird Island Basin. Very slow initially, but picked up from 10:30 to noon around the same time the west winds died down. Managed a few trout, 6 of which were keepers in the 15" to 18" range, all released. About 1 in 3 trout were keeper size. Most of them were thick and beefy.
With winds picking up around 2:30, decided on 3 more casts before making the paddle back. Cast #2 was slammed by a healthy red. A few minutes into the fight, my other reel starts screaming ... another red! This one grabbed my Vudu shrimp under a Cajun Thunder trailing 15 yards behind me. I secure the first one, and miraculously I'm able to get the second one in.
The one on the left measured 32". Didn't measure the one on the right ... figured he was about 29" by the way he fit in my net, but looking at a few pics of the 2 side by side, he may be a hair bigger. Both released.
Caught the 32" on my 6'9" Blair Wiggins / Sabalos combo from D-i-c-k's, using H&H plastic.
The paddle back into a straight 15 mph headwind wasn't fun ... but was definitely worth it. |

All and all, sounds like you had a good day on the water. A few good fish and some good exercise. Nice way to spend you're Sunday. _________________ "I do hunt and I do fish and I do not apologize to anyone that I hunt and fish." - Norman Schwarzkopf |

I've got a Blair Wiggins combo as well but -7 feet 6 inches. I find it a little heavy but it was a price I couldn't refuse. $99 plus they threw in the reel for free when Blair Wiggins was there for Richard's grandopening.
Btw, nice catches. |

| Dude nice fish there! That's quite a paddle too. Do those vudu shrimp hold up better than DOAs? for a red to hit it on a trolling line is a pretty good vote of confidence |
