I've fished the gutter before but never in winds like what is in store for tomorrow. Myself and a couple of buddies will be down there tomorrow. Are we crazy to give it a try there or will we be able to at least have a shot at some fish? What is the bottom like there? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just for a heads up, we've been doing great in Nueces throwing dark colored gamblers in the grass. "Hoppers" have been pulling out some really nice trout and redfish. Nothing huge but solid trout in the 20's and a couple over 5 lbs.

the hole will absolutely be blown out.

there might be some fish in the gutter, pushed back with the north wind.

With the north wind today and all night, that area will be chocolate milk. You might find clean water inside tide gauge or just off the bar.

thanks for the input guys...made our way in this morning with the winds a lot better than yesterday...three of us got dropped off at tide gauge and we worked the east end of the bar...we ended up with 9 trout, 8 reds and a stout flounder. threw gamblers all morning and into early noon when the wind really began to cooperate and lay over. bite was very good today and we were able to land some trout up to 5 lbs. the other two gentlemen with us tried the gutter, and just as you guys advised...looked bad, they gave it a shot and pulled out three trout and a lower slot red. all in all, great day down south considering the conditions. ready to enjoy the week in Nueces...should have some solid fishy days this week
