OFTII...There is a 'Contact' tab on the website...Bet they would be able to answer your questions...
Or better yet, attend a meeting, come to your own conclusions and maybe speak from a position of experience vs assumptions...Just a thought...G |

I guess a list of the guides who proposed a set of guidelines is too much to ask for.
as far as assumptions, I've been around long enough to realize organizations that have essentially the same member list as wade paddle and pole, likely have the same goals as wade paddle, and pole. |

what is burning the flats? |
Ive always wondered this too. Your father-in-laws old ride does a great job of running the flats, but its not "burning" anything other than gas and 2 stroke oil. Now the idiots in a grady white that try to run in a foot are tearing up the flats. Searching for reds while on plane and not prop dragging is normal protocal for anyone that knows anything about redfish. Corraling them into a area by doing circles around them is illegal, but I have yet to see anyone fishing professionally (tournament pros) or for a living (guides) do circles around fish. All it does is give them lock jaw. Spotting some fish and then going back around to get up-wind from them is totally normal. |

that boat was (still is) stupidly shallow! that's what I'm getting at. There are plenty of boats out there that can run in 8-10" of water on plane, and not damage anything. you put my boat in there.... you will have a nice place to lay a water line. LOL. t |

My understanding it's boats running real fast and shallow next to shore lines to locate redfish.
, if this is not accurate I stand corrected. _________________ Salad, Salad, everywhere and not a bite to eat. |

| There is no law against locating fish. Most of the tower boats you see are purposely built and designed to run shallow on plane at low speed. A smart redfish person is not running "real fast" when trying to spot fish. The guys that everyone sees running the shoreline south of pita heading to baffin are not locating redfish 90% of the time. They are running that area to stay out of the deep water chop in emmords, beacrofts, etc.. And most of the time, they are 100-200 yards off dry land which is a few feet of water. I run along spoils and shorelines to locate fish going less than 20mph most of the time and am still maintaining a plane. The retards that have never owned a boat that try to go up into the shallow flats with a full size stoner skiff or blue wave are the ones you need to be concerned with. Number one rule of "boating" is to know what your vessel is capable of SAFELY doing. Ive had people in larger v-hull boats try to follow me into back flats and marsh only to get stuck. Know you boat, and know the tide! |

No regulations nor entities involved, a separate and apart group of anglers discussing how to better share a public resource... http://flatsworthy.com/ |
Thanks for sharing that link. Lots of common sense on that web page. Plus a cameo pic of Capt. Black. |

The list of guides who proposed a set of guidelines for boating etiquette and want nothing but a better fishing experience for everybody who enjoys the most beautiful and bountiful flats and marshes of Texas is:
Chuck Naiser
David Nesoloney
Billy Trimble
Dean Thomas
Jay Watkins
This is the core group that initially sat down to try to come up with a common sense approach to a growing issue.nSupport has grown tremendously and I thank everyone who has taken the time to help us spread the word. |

What about when someone parks his boat a hundred yards down and then wades up the shoreline and starts pitching bait in the same pocket we are anchored up on? I can't remember if that guy made you mad or not... |

Jay Watkins as in Rudys Redfish series pro Jay Watkins (ray jays dad)?? seems a bit odd that they promote not burning shorelines, when they do it in tournament setting. (its actually just locating fish, not "burning" anything) |

| Recreational use is more than just fishing. Maybe someone just wants to cruise with the family. Maybe somebody wants to haul butt across a glass surface. Maybe another guy wants to set up a day use on a spoil island. Respect of the resource as well as those around you is the key. Fishing isn't everything, but it is a big thing. Respect is the biggest thing. |
