I have gone through 2 dozen cordless spotlights over the years. They have taught me the difference between water proof and resistant as well as some colorful phrasing as they die....
Anyone have any advise on a good reliable waterproof light? I would like to keep it to $100 max.
Thanks in advance. |

| I've used a pelican dive light before, works great and 100% waterproof. Only problem was it took 8 C batteries. They might be making a rechargeable one now. |

Interstate Battery has a re-chargeable one and a model that runs on 4 double A's that is LED they sell at their shop that is small, bright as he'll, and very powerful....I want to say it's less than $20...Eightball Express on this board has had one I want to say for like 5 years now, loves it....buy one, maybe two and you'd be covered...
they also go GREAT as gifts....(ahem!!)

heh....that wasn't a blatant attempt to get someone on this board to buy me one.....that was a mental prod for slackers like myself to go get a few and get them in the mail sooner than later....
on that note, wallyworld has displays in some stores next to fishing and hunting that has gobs of knives and multi-tools and stuff for like $3.87 that you can stuff some stockings with for sure....

| Hey Becky I was over in Wallyworld on staples and everything that was $3.87 here was on sale for $2 there. Bought 6 sets of scissors. Some to give away and some for me. They work great on everything including braided line. I was cutting some line off a swivel and actually cut through the swivel |

I've ditched the cordless spotlights and went with a Pelican flashlight. Got the one at Academy with 126 lumens in a tight beam that cuts through misty haze. It finds channel markers with ease. 4 Double-A batteries so its light to hold. Showed it off to a buddy and, of course, he produces a Streamlight from his bag with more lumens. Someone is always going to have something bigger, better, faster... brighter. When it comes to flashlights, its all about lumens. _________________ kick your shoes off and cast a line |

| Don't buy the Cyclops re-chargeable brand that they sell at Academy. Mine quit working in less than a year.... |

Love the Streamlight Stinger DS LED-75811. It can be charged on AC & DC and the charge lasts forever(6.75 hours)! It puts out 160 lumens, and weights 12.8 oz., but is several years old, so there is probably a newer/better model. Mine was a gift, so the price was not an issue, I just had to give up my daughter, or possibly I should say I had to accept a new son, who is a great guy!
After posting this I went to Streamlight's site to see what they had new, and there is a cordless spot which can be bought in two styles, one for 4 "C " batteries and one with a lithium ion battery and recharging capabilities. The rechargeable one is more than twice as much, as the non-rechargeable one $52 vs. well over $100 by the time you buy the charger, etc. The output and the run time is great on both units, but the economics of the rechargeable one is substantially better than the non-rechargeable one, due to the cost of C batteries, and the fact the lithium ion battery can be recharged over 800 times!
When you factor in 4 "C" batteries 800 times the cost is about $3200! There is also a red and green filter for the lens, and a mounting bracket. One nice aspect of the lights is they can be run on a DC cord an unlimited amount of time if the batteries have been exhausted. The max lumen output is about 500 and it comes in yellow or black, and is waterproof, and floats! |

Stepped out there and laid down 19.99 plus tax for their light. Seems to be well built and easy to operate.
Thanks for the advise and input. |
