Fished and scouted for a new hunting spot this afternoon. Drifting the back yard and heard drum booming. Got excited til I saw this one floating and trying to dive unsuccessfully.
I motored over and it made a few more attempts, thrashed and then went still.
One eye was completely gone, the other glazed. I gave up trying to revive it after a few minutes of total inactivity from the fish.
I hadbt thought too much of the few dead horse mullet floating until this. Maybe the Rojo is still hanging around in patches?

Oh my. That's bad when drum are dying. They are pretty hardy critters. Lets hope this cooler weather knocks out the red tide.

That thing was alive? And trying to swim? That kind of creeps me out, like watching the walking dead....

Fished BHP around lunch yesterday. Fished the 1st gut and noticed the water had a little foam with brownish red tinge in the big patches. Then I noticed a 30+ inch drum like this one flipping and struggling on the surface. We caught one sand trout that seemed healthy and a few hard heads.
