There is a fishing guide that regularly violates a No Wake Zone, often throwing a huge wake which damages bulkheads and docks. What to do? Should he be reported to Tx Parks and Wildlife, or to Coast Guard since he advertises as having a USCG license?

When I confronted a guide for doing that same thing your neighborhood Fishinglady, especially during early morning hours when I've nearly become a speed bumb in my kayak (despite being legally illuminated), the response I got was something along the lines of:
"I've been running on plane in that channel since you were in diapers, and I'll keep on doing it, so kiss my *****". So umm...yeah...there's that lol Laughing

Had the Jetty Boat send two waves over my bow at the entrance to PA harbor in the no wake zone, fortunately the USCG witnessed it and issued a citation. Had just over ankle deep water in the boat and took several runs up and down the CC channel to get the self bailing deck to clear it out.

Luke, we are probably talking about the same guide. When I've asked nicely/pointed to my "PLEASE, No Wake" sign, I've gotten very rude responses/gestures. That's why I'm asking what to do. I know there are some respected fishing guides on this forum, and I'm hoping to hear from them about what to do. By ignoring the No Wake zone he is setting a very bad example for all his clients in the boat.

I think its time to name what channel and the name of the guide, plus calling TP&WL, and the CG. His attitude does not indicate he is going to change his ways until he has repercussions from it. What a jerk! BTW, you have to realize he believes he is above the rest of us in order to deal with him appropriately! A lot of us have requests for referrals, including on this site, so we sure don't want to refer one of our friends to the perpetrator. The guy you are talking about might even write a monthly article for a popular Texas Saltwater fishing mag, and I'm sure they would appreciate knowing about his transgressions! Very Happy

Simple solution...
Take a video of the jerk and send it to the Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Try to get his TX registration number and his face in the video.

The video idea is great. You should also post it to YouTube. I suggest you report it to every law enforcement agency you can every time this jerk does this. If you complain enough sooner or later they will do something about it.

The only way to stop MOST pricks like that is to nail them, and video is surely the best evidence, not only of the law being broken, but also the disrespectfull/juvenile behavior of something is said to them! Evil or Very Mad

The canal is the one just north of the Whitecap waste water plant; it parallels the flats just east of the spoil islands, and it runs in front of the houses facing west towards Flour Bluff.

The guide runs a Blue Wave boat with a red wave on the side. The guide is tall and thin and seems to be operating out of the Padre Isles area north of Whitecap, as he often goes by four times a day...out in early morning, back in around lunch time, out again around 1pm, then in again in the afternoon. The vast majority of the time, he is throwing a wake each time he goes by....thus 4 times a day. He seems to go by Capt. Len.

Google seems to confirm the captain's name with the boat described.

Capt. Jerk making a wake. Yes he is real winner. He lives out there and has a web site. Not a bad wake but to some its a wake especially if you live on the bulkhead maybe he makes bigger ones at other times wakes are especially damaging to boats tied up at docks.

I don't understand someone like this. You would think his local reputation would be important to him. I guess he's not looking for local referrals. My place is down close to the end where the canal wraps back around. I have not seen him in our canal but its small. If he wants to go fast and get a head start why not have the clients meet at one of the bait stands. Thats what everybody else does, but you run the risk of having your skills as a guide compared to everyone else coming in.
