We took the boat out early Sunday morning with plans to hit Emmords Hole. We picked up some live shrimp at the Bait Bucket and headed to PINS to launch from there.
Got to the area about 8 or so. We did 2 drifts....landed a bunch of dink trout but managed 4 keepers...the biggest going 21" and smallest at 16.5". We did catch a bunch of 15" but didn't want to take that chance that they might do that shrink thing so to be safe..anything over 16" we wanted to keep.
My girl caught all the keepers and the biggest one..except for one.

We tried out the new bimini top we installed on Saturday...also rigged up my live well with an aerator to keep the shrimp alive since I have been hearing too many bad things about the live wells on Mako Skiffs. It worked great. Out of the $20 of live shrimp I bought...I lost maybe 5 or 6. Not too shabby. And that was from 7am till about 1pm.

The water clarity was great...we could see all kinds of stuff in about 1-3 feet of water...the bay was full of life.
I did take my GoPro but of course...I forgot to use it. So next time.
Oh...the skiff handled great. I am loving it.

One last thing....after my last trip last week...I decided I needed to do something different to put the fish in instead of using the cooler that comes with the boat..so instead of taking another cooler...I found this fishing bag with a zipper on top at Walmart (fishing department area) that is pretty big and is insulated. I put the fish in there...with some ice..and kept it in the cooler with the drinks and snacks. That also worked out great...no spillage or smell. And it only cost $10...!! Good find.

Was there for a while Sunday also in my Mako 17 pro skiff.

Running with the shoreline about 50 yards out and crossing the channel to the boat barn I hit something hard and took a chunk out of the Skeg.

The problem with the live well on the Mako 17 is that when you run on plane the water is sprayed into the well even when the pump is off due to water pressure at the inlet and it overflows.
The only real cure is to screw the nozzle in before you take off then screw it out a turn or two when you stop.
Other than that it keeps the shrimp alive with very few dying.
The only time they died was when I bought them at a bait shop that had no fresh running salt water because they were so far away from it.
No problems ever with shrimp bought there at the bait shops off Kennedy Causway. (Red Dot, Causway, Clems, Billings, or Marker 37).

We had very similar results on Saturday, just north of Emmords. But we probably experienced TONS more watercraft.
