ok guys need a lil help, i got an avet MXL 5.8 for fathers day. what kind of rod should i put on it? looking to stay in the $200 range. any help would be appreciate it. thanks guys

Breakaway HDX would be a good rod for that I think if you are going to be casting it.. Probably could cast it a mile. What's your intent with this reel

I second the hdx. I've worked over at break away for while, and having used the rod, I feel like for such a reel you may want to look at the hdx w/ with tournament butt. Its 14 foot instead of 13. With that said 150 is an amazing deal. I usually cast a 200g with the far out rig from breakaway. We have one with a steel leader for shark. Sorry if I'm advertising, but It will really increase your cast distances.
