Thanks Guys,
I think the boys speared about half of the spadefish and caught the rest on small sections of mullet. Chum the school up next to the boat and then fool them with a small piece of bait on a small hook. Chris said they also caught some mangrove snapper and one pompano. And YES, spadefish is really good eating anyway you cook it.

I was thinking that if they could be hooked on a fly rod they would be a great fight - I've heard they are kinda feisty, and great eating!

Kinda feisty???? A 3 pound Spade could wear out a 3 pound red! I caught 13 in the 2-3 pound size once and was worn out....... Stopped fishing and went home even though I had plenty of shrimp left and the fish were still biting. As usual, I haven't gotten into them since, and that was 5-6 years ago!!!! Embarassed
