T.S. may bring more rain to Texas Coast this next week -
"An expansive area of convection has been present all day Saturday near the Yucatan and northwestern Caribbean. It now appears that surface low pressure may be forming over the Yucatan. This area of convection is embedded within an incredibly moisture-rich environment. The main hinderance for development through Sunday will be the fact the low pressure will be over land. But, it will not be over land for long. This low pressure is also embedded within a brisk southeast flow. So, this low pressure will be on the move. It will be out over the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico later Sunday or Sunday night. Shear is expected to weaken some, which could allow development. This feature should track quickly northwestward as steering winds are 20 knots or higher. This track would bring the feature towards the Texas coast Monday night or Tuesday. This could be a very bad situation with major flooding, as several days of heavy rain could precede the arrival of the tropical system. Hurricane hunters will be investigating the system Sunday afternoon. There are a couple of tropical waves across the central and eastern Atlantic. But, there is a lot of Saharan dust near these waves, and shear is too high for there to be development. So, the rest of the Atlantic will be quiet for the next few days. FCO, where are you finding updates?
NWS and Wunderground have pretty much the same as when I first looked early this AM. _________________ the creepy uncle that scares the kids.... |

Weather.com and Accuweather Premium. I haven't checked any more this afternoon though.
"The disturbance will push northwestwards over Texas by Tuesday, but it is uncertain how much rain Texas and Louisiana might get from the storm. The European model favors a more westward track into South Texas with lower rainfall totals of about 1 - 2" over Texas on Monday and Tuesday, while the GFS model shows more development of 91L and a track more towards the east, with the upper Texas coast and Louisiana coast getting about 3 - 5" of rain. Given the amount of heavy thunderstorm activity 91L has already built over the Western Caribbean," from Weatherunderground
Weather.com has predictions of 8-12 inches of rain in the area between Corpus and Galveston on the video on their site.
We will know much more later this pm and tomorrow am. _________________ Gary J

| Well, I guess I don't feel so bad about postponing my visit for another week or two... Hope I can get out on a snapper boat least once before the season is over. |
