Day trip with my son, brother in law and two of his kids, and nephew and his son. Got a late start Saturday morning. Arrived at the Bait Bucket and picked some live shrimp. No boat or kayak, just had to get down to the salt. First stop, packery, one rat red. Started to make our move to the normal drive up fishing spots but the high water practically made it impossible. Back side of Mustang was a no go. Stopped at Fish Pass for a bit, nada! Didn't get to go to where I wanted to go because of the locked gate. On to Brown and Root flats where the kids got to swim a little and fired up the hibachi for some hot dogs. No bites there either. Last stop was at Conn Brown pier and fished till about 9:30 pm. Nothing! Packed the kids up and headed home. Fun was had by all and ready to do it again.

nice little redfish!
always love the blue tinge on the tail...
kids and fun... great day...
when the fish don't wanna play, use the shrimp for some live-line crabbing near any piling...
everyone has fun doing that!
we saved a day taking wives and kids to the Aransas channel and they had a great time crabbing near some posts just N of B&R flats one day ...
lots of shouts and screams...
crabs were returned and everyone had fun and dinner later. _________________ the creepy uncle that scares the kids.... |
