| I'm a live shrimp lemon rig die hard on the jetties, but my future step granddaughter is coming this weekend (4 years old). We're heading to the beach SBH, and I'm thinking live shrimp, slip sinker above a swivel, and a 2 foot mono leader with a live shrimp and fishbite in the second gut. She's bound to catch whiting..... |

Whiting are pretty thick right now. I usually use the green or orange colored but im convinced the color doesnt so much matter. I usually get crab or shrimp scented and haven't noticed a difference with that either. I figured the brighter the better. I dunno really but that's what has worked for me. Maybe if you are lucky you can get a few pomps also! _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

AND THEM SOME!!!
Your rig sounds perfect. Although you don't need to go that far. The wade gut is teaming with whiting right now. Plenty to keep a youngster busy. |

And, fresh dead shrimp will work just fine. Should not have to resort to live shrimp in the surf for whiting... _________________

That's what I was thinking too! Live shrimp for whiting: unnecassary, and makes for expensive whiting. Then there's the hooking part. For small kids, the KISS pricipal works best. _________________ Dave

I like the orange a lot especially when the ghost shrimp are carrying eggs and are close to the same color. I think it might be just me however! _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

| I have only used the shrimp scented in pink and also white. The pink has served me very well when fishing for whiting in the surf. I caught a real nice sand trout the other day on pink too. |
