Having a hard time figuring out this answer.
Is spending the night at a fish camp after first day of fishing can you clean the fish at boat launch facility and bring fillets to camp and fish the following day for another limit? I'm being told you have to leave fillets in truck and can't have them back on boat???

So if camping for several days you need to leave fish uncleaned in cooler? Not sure I would see the difference in why that would matter? Thanks for reply.

Most of the limits in the tpwd book are daily limits. So if two consecutive days of fishing brings in limits, I would clean em and bag em, and label the bag with the date. At least we did that with doves last year in case there was some issues. Also, I've never heard of tpw going to someone's camp to count filets.

I suggest you call and talk with a game warden to try to understand how your situation applies to what they expect. The wardens realize many stay in the camps overnight and fish, so they expect, and hope you catch fish while you are there. The method of zip-lock bagging, naming, and dating, but not having the filets on your boat while fishing, is a good suggestion. Some camps have better facilities than others, but I would suggest a cooler/freezer for the bagged fish to keep the limits separate. Generally speaking, if you are on your way in from a stay at a camp you are loaded down with gear you would not have on board otherwise, so I would think they would expect you to have more than one days catch on board, some filleted and some not.

Possession limit is 2 x the daily limit. You should not fillet them until they are headed to final destination (home or if you are going to cook them at camp) or technically you can be fined. You can however gut and gill them. Also day 1 fish should be separate from day 2 fish so when you are fishing on day 2 day 1's catch should be left at camp. Only when you are traveling back to the ramp should you have both days limits on the boat, and again if you stop and fish on the way in with more than 1 daily limit per person you could technically be fined.

This may not be exact letter of the law but it's pretty close as I understand it.

When camping multiple days we'll usually gut & gill the catch and be sure it's packed in ice. I'm not gonna be caught crossing the bay with fillets in the cooler, legal or not that's asking for trouble.

Thanks for the info. Will be contacting a game warden to see what they recommend but sounds like some good advice. Fishing was incredible sat and Sunday so I fid have to put that advice to use. Thanks again
