Took the kayak to Packery flats about 8:30. Set up a drift exactly how I wanted. Drifted 15 minutes and picked up a 22" red on a top/drop combo. Front hit and 15 min. later I was back to where I started. Winds up, rains down, pulled kayak out. Waited several hours for weather to break. No luck. Never put kayak in again.

We actually did the same thing. We drifted in the yaks from icw to packery channel park then the winds did a 180 and we went back. Weather sucked. Nothing worse than using braid line in high winds. Managed a few sheephead and Reds but the Reds were being tricky. Tried gold spoons, white, red, chartreuse swimming mullet gulp and live and dead shrimp. Line snapped twice, wasn't using a strong enough fluro leader.

At least you were in the flats. I was 4 miles offshore paddling around the rigs in all that mess. I kept waiting for the weather to clear, but as you know it stayed ugly and I had to make it back to the beach in the madness. Ah well, it was good exercise and I caught several jacks.

That front was not in any forecast I checked before I paddled out. Weather forecasters need to step it up!

Zia - thought you have up kayaking. Lol

Prof. Salt - I thought I was the only one that didn't read that forecast right. Never saw north winds in the forcast.
