Went SBH with wife, son with his wife and youngest son and grandson and wife. Caught whiting until they became a bother.
Found a crab on a log and put it on one of the rods. About 45 min. later it bends over and line starts ripping off. I tell my son to get it and he has a fight of his life. Gets a big red to the shoreline. At that point the wave goes out and the red is on the sand. Instead of waiting for the next wave to come in, he tries to muscle it up. Circle hook gets pulled from its lip and off it swims. I estimate it to be upper 30's to low 40"'s.
On the way home my son stopped to buy some shrimp to go along with 32 crabs we caught off my dock and we had a great cajun boil for dinner. During dinner my grandson informs Mary and me that we are going to be great grandparents. I really feel old now!
BTW, water was fairly clear but blue water was not far off shore.

Thank you for the continued beach reports. If I can talk my wife into it, I plan to do the same Sunday, weather permitting, and use the second half of the bait I purchased last Sunday. Whiting is fine with me. A pomp and red would be a plus for sure. I don't mind fishing in the boat by myself, but for some reason I like to have my wife as company on the beach. I like to see her catch fish. Very Happy

Cannot beat the feeling when a grandchild verbalizes the fact that his grandpa or grandma really knows his/ her "fishing".

Very Happy
