No complaining, if you don't at least make your voice heard. It's a webinar, you don't even have to be there in person.

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will convene a Webinar meeting Tuesday, March 3, 2015, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm Eastern Time.

The Council will review the Scientific and Statistical Committee's Red Snapper ABC Recommendations, take public comment regarding a Framework Action to Adjust the Red Snapper Annual Catch Limit (ACL), and review and take final action on the Framework Action to Adjust the Red Snapper ACL.

Meeting materials will be posted on the Council website at www.gulfcouncil.org

just curious, I'm assuming that the ACL will go up due to the inclusion of additional sampling methods (i.e. the ROV surveys that Stunz's lab is doing)......however, are they still using wildly inflated estimated catch data from MRIP, therefore dampening any potential increases in TAC?

^ That's sorta it. The SSC will convene a webinar of the Standing and Special Reef Fish on the 19th to determine the ABC, based on any and all new data, previous catch numbers, and such. That is passed along to the full Council for their review and they will take public comment for setting the ACL and adopting any penalty phase for adjusting the ACL.

So basically the full Council gets to blow the whistle and put the two combatants in the box! TWEEET...... "Rec sector, two minutes for boarding and a five minute major for instigating"... "Commercial sector, 5 minutes for fighting and a match penalty for slew footing". Laughing Laughing

[Lets see who gets the Rule 52.2 reference]

and I'm sure there will be plenty CFH captains there pushing Amendment 40 and sector separation, which will completely muddy the water (besides taking 3 precious hours of Council time for public comment).....

I don't expect to see more than one to two days for private recreational fishermen this season regardless of an increase in ABC/TAC.....

there are some people out there all happy though; the cattle boats they ride on will get more days....congrats, hope you're happy, while a majority of local fishermen have to stay at the dock....
