Can anyone help me find a link on hunting the blinds built by others on the coast? I'm not quite sure how it works. Are these blinds first come first serve or will they be locked till the builder hunts it? I'm making a solo trip this weekend and would like to get out to one on the kayak. Thanks for the help,
Zack. |

| Blinds are first come, first serve. With that being said, don't encroach on someone else's blind. Wait until after daylight and if no one is using it, then gently make yourself at home. Lots of ugliness when someone has spent time and money to build a blind, and some potlicker gets there before the builder and wants to hunt it. Better yet, build your own blind with portable material such as burlap, camo material, brush, etc. |

If you see a blind that you want to hunt then hunt it. If you are there first it is your right to hunt there. The builder has full knowledge of the fact that when he places that blind in the marsh it is no longer his, the blind now belongs to the state of Texas and can be hunted by anyone. If you get to a blind first and the owner "or so called owner" gets to the blind and wants to get mouthy, pull out your phone and video record the confrontation. He could actually be charged with hunter harassment. People abuse the hunters honor don't hunt my blind by building 3-4 or even 5 blinds in one area to try and shut everyone out. _________________ Bad fisherman blame their bait, or the lack there of. |

Glad someone asked this question. I just moved down from Iowa and was wondering the same thing. I have built many blinds in the past on the Mississippi River and the rules are the same. First come first serve. I have never had a conflict when someone was in our blind. I have cut willows and made temporary blinds a few times. I agree with Cricket though. Humping all the material out to build a blind can be a lot of work.

I'm ok with the first come first serve thing . In the last few weeks i have spoken to several hunters who have been hunting a blind that i built ,they got there before me and i asked that they not trash the blind that i built and that i would hunt a different blind so far the ones i have spoken to have been very courteous and understanding they even commented on the fact that i keep a trash bucket in the blind. What i have a problem with is the inconsiderate POS that broke the two shelves off of the east wall in "my" blind earlier this week and took them ,total disregard for another mans work and money . Use the blind don't destroy it or soon it too will be a piece of crap like so many other blinds |

I have hunted the RealLagunatic's blind a few times over the years. He knows it and I have shared with him my appreciation in having the opportunity to hunt his blind.
I always take the time to clean up any trash in and around the blind that is left by others.
Sorry to hear that your blind was damaged. Not cool. Need any lumber for repairs? Let me know and I'll deliver it to you next time I'm in the Bluff. |
