Does anybody have any suggestions for the Rockport area or Corpus Area?

Now I know this will probably lead into a "get out there, spend some time and find your own spots" kind of issue, but I live in San Antonio. And between the kids and running a business, I don't get the time to do that.

I have this awesome kayak I never get to use and I will be in the Rockport area for Thanksgiving. Don't want any honey hole locations, just point me in the right direction with a little advice. That's all I ask.
BTW, looking for Reds, Trout, FLOUNDER, Black drum.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should book a trip with Slow Ride guide service and ask as many questions as you can, that one time payment will go a long way with permanent knowledge. If you are too pridefull and insist on learning on your own, most kayakers in Rockport launch at Goose Island State Park I believe and fish oyster reefs. The park rangers should be able to point out the reefs for you or buy a Hot Spots map at Academy. Lighthouse Lakes seem popular but alwayw looks crowded to me and is strickly a shallow redfish spot.

What Tyler said. I was thinking the same areas. Fore asted south and southwest breezes will be protected in either area.

You can launch at the Copano causeway on the Fulton side, and fish the reefs and shell areas on the Fulton beach rd. Say from the bridge to the KON TIKI resort are for some trout. Or launch behind the Airport for reds and drum.There used to be some old oil field pads on the bay side behind the airport.

Dunham and Sundown bays use crab or fresh dead shrimp. We did good on reds and drum. No trout or flounder

Also use a guide during the summer or early spring. With kids I highly recommend Kim Hines with Hines Guide Service. My 6 and 4 year olds love going out with him and he provides all but the food and drinks. All you have to do is enjoy the trip as he will do it all for you.
