Ya know. I planned this trip for months and the only thing I couldnt control is the weather. We arrived to the jetty to a moderate north wind that was fishable but couldn't get on the kayaks. Managed to catch a few whitingand skip jacks in the surf and nothing inside the jetty because the current was ripping out incredibly hard. We decided to set camp inland along the pass because a front was to come down the first night. We woke in the morning to 20+ winds and 10ft waves breaking over the jetty so we ended up kayaking down the pass to the bay and fish for trout. It was fun but not what I came all the way down to mansfield for. I ended up boxing quite a few decent trout and a 24" flounder within the pass. I also got to see something new, tailing bull Reds that wanted nothing to do with a lure. I was getting really close to them. Like within five feet and I couldn't get them to eat. Oh well. The weather on the way out was awesome on the third day. But, we were tired. We did fish our way out of the island and caught a few trout and a red but nothing to write home about. I had a great time with a bud and look forward to doing it again next year.

sounds like a great trip all things considered. You guys fished it hard and had a good time, which is all that counts. Up close and personal with tailing bulls must have been a real treat. Thanks for the report amigo.

The rain in PM Saturday the 18th was no fun. Lots of jacks and reds around the jetty on Friday the 17th though...
